Adrienne “Dolly” Duke

After a life filled with family, friends and immeasurable love, Adrienne “Dolly” Duke, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023.

She was happiest when her house was filled with family and friends, all eating the delicious Italian food she loved to cook. Dolly was sweet, gentle and loving, as well as strong, tough, and determined, and had a deep and abiding faith in God. She was the type of person who, if you gave her a free house-cleaning session, she would clean her house before the cleaners came.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Raymond A. Duke Jr.; children Daniel R. Duke; Douglas (Karen) Duke, Raymond A. Duke; and Marianne (Ken) Workman; her cousin Patty (Bill) Barefoot; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Scharbo. She was delighted to be grandmother to Daniel and Mason Duke; Ryan Duke and Leah (Matt) Newcomer; and Matt, Adrianna, Sydney and Nicholas Workman; and overjoyed to be great-grandmother to Audrina Duke, and Taylor and Aubrey Newcomer. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna (Cuccaro) Scharbo; and her siblings, Joseph, Frank and Marilou, who she loved and looked up to.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sept. 10 at RJ Slater IV Funeral Home, 1000 Freeport Rd, New Kensington, 15068. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at Our Lady of Joy, 2000 O’Block Rd., Pittsburgh, 15239, ( PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) followed by interment at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Plum Creek Cemetery, 670 Center New Texas Rd., Pittsburgh, 15239.
