Agnes Popovich

Agnes Popovich, age 97, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, with her family by her side. Born on January 5, 1928, in Rankin, PA, she was the daughter of the late August and Mary Hollan.

Agnes was the beloved wife for 54 years of the late Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Popovich, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a devoted mother to Mary Popovich, Suzy (Robert) Celender, Laura Popovich, John Popovich, Amy (Jim) Seguiti, Lt Col AF Retired Tim (Roseanne) Popovich, Ellie (Rick Williams), and the late Mark and Dave (surviving spouse, Dana) Popovich. Agnes was also a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and great-grandmother to two and loving aunt of Mariam and Denny.

In addition to her family, Agnes was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy and Norbert. A dedicated homemaker, she spent her life raising nine children and filling their home with love and warmth, especially through her cherished family meals. Agnes was especially known for her delicious apple pie, a treat that will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of tasting it.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, March 2, from 4-8 PM at RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A private Mass and burial will be held on Monday, with Agnes being laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
