Amelia "Jean" (Askey) Willyard

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amelia "Jean" (Askey) Willyard, who peacefully departed this life on June 1, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born on May 21, 1950, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Jean was the beloved daughter of the late Dale and Agnes "Betty" (Coyle) Askey. She is now reunited with her parents and the brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.

Jean will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, and ever present sense of humor. Though born and raised in Pennsylvania, she spent the later years of her life in Pavo, Georgia, alongside her devoted partner and best friend, Johnny Stephenson.

Above all else, Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, companion, and friend. She was the kind of person who would share whatever she had with anyone in need, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. Her kindness was perfectly balanced by a touch of stubbornness and sass, qualities that endeared her even more to those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sondra (Chris) Sulkowski, Heather Sacik, Shelley Sacik, Clinton (Arana) Willyard, Shawn Stephenson, Latrisha (Craig) Stephenson, and TJ Stephenson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh (Tarah) Reed, Kenlee Reed, Jacob (Hanna) Sulkowski, Callee Willyard, Letty Willyard, Katelyne Gessford, Jeremy (Grace) Gessford, Christian Gessford, and Paisley Stephenson; and by her treasured great grandchildren, Elena Shea and Finnegan Shea.

Throughout her career, Jean worked as a Direct Support Professional and Certified Nursing Assistant. Her work reflected the compassion and selflessness that defined her life, allowing her to care for and support others when they needed it most.

In her free time, Jean enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, and crafting. She also had a special love for animals of all kinds, big and small, and found great joy in caring for them.

Jean's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her love, laughter, strength, and generosity leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. While her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the many cherished memories they shared with her.

In accordance with Jean's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, her family will gather with relatives and friends for a celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter, a cause that reflected Jean's lifelong love of animals.
