Barbara Moyer

December 31, 1935 — April 26, 2018

Barbara Ann (Bierly) Moyer, 82, ended her struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease April 26, 2018, while a resident of Bethlen Home Skilled Nursing, Ligonier. She was born December 31, 1935 in Bellefonte, Pa., the oldest child of Nevin R. and L. Mabel (Musser) Bierly. A bookkeeper by vocation, she worked in various positions while stationed with her family in England, Italy and various states in America during her husband’s U.S. Air Force career. Following military service, the couple settled in Greensburg, where Barbara was employed over the years by West Penn Power and the Presbytery of Redstone, among others. She was co-owner of the Tanglewood Lake Campground in Madison for several years before moving into the home the family built in Mt. Pleasant Township in 1995. An avid scrapbooker, skilled seamstress, organist and singer, Barbara enjoyed all of these avocations until her illness intervened. She was a longtime member of the Westmoreland Choral Society (WCS), and organization treasurer. Barbara enjoyed the company of a close circle of friends made during her time with WCS who lovingly supported her throughout her illness. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lynn Moyer of Acme, children Gwendolyn (Anthony) Zecha of Rockville, MD; Leon (Joanne) of Smithton and Jeffrey of Jeannette; siblings Richard (Pat) of Bellefonte, Carol (John) Hayes of Boalsburg, Amy (Steve) Mitchell of Howard, and Doris (Joe ) Brooks of Salem, SC; seven grandchildren, Alexander Zecha, Andrew Zecha, James Moyer, Samantha (Jesse) Keller, Patrick (Rossella) Moyer, Frank (Jessica) Moyer and Rafael Moyer; five great grandchildren, Ariana, Maggie, Scarlett, Bradley and Arthur; and Moyer sisters-in- law Sally (Wayne), Alice and Ruth.
