Betty Loy (Arbgast) Piecka, 79, of New Kensington, peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Born on December 17, 1944, in Imperial, PA, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Piecka Jr., with whom she shared 38 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2007.
She was the loving mother of Keith Piecka and the late Joseph James Piecka III. Betty will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Mary Ann Singleton, as well as her cousins, nieces, nephews, and her extended family, the Bryners and Knapps.
Betty dedicated 47 years to Westmoreland Insurance Company before retiring in 2020. Known by many nicknames—“Betty Boop,” “Trouble,” and “Feisty”—she was cherished for her lively spirit. Her mornings always began with a hot cup of coffee and the newspaper. She found joy in watching the Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, WWE wrestling, anything Mickey Mouse, and indulging in a good scoop of ice cream. Betty was also a neighborhood favorite, always keeping her fridge stocked with pop, fresh cookies, and bubblegum for the kids and families nearby.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at R.J. Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Her son extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heritage Hospice and Cheswick Rehabilitation and Wellness for the excellent care they provided to his mother over the past year.
