Carol Lee (Ripper) Hessom, 86, is now experiencing the joy of being in the
Presence of the Lord, as she passed away on Saturday, May, 13, 2023. Carol was born on August 17, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Freida Margaret Shoemaker Ripper and Dale LeRoy Ripper. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wes, as well as her older brother
Ronald Ripper and her next younger brother Errol(Sonny) Claude Ripper.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Young and her brother the Rev. Frederick Harold Ripper. Carol was precious to her children John , Jeff (Terri) Hessom, Becky (Hans) Murdock, Joe (Susan) and Jason (Nancy) Hessom, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grands.
Carol graduated from Tarentum High School. She was a member of the First Church of God in Brackenridge, where she was in more recent years the church pianist. In addition to homemaking for her family of seven, Carol was part owner of Hessom's restaurant where she was an excellent baker. Carol enjoyed art and was especially talented with watercolor and charcoal. Carol devoted many years to chauffeuring her children back and forth from various school activities, cheering them on at their sports events and later helping with the grandchildren. Carol volunteered for years at several local nursing facilities as a pianist. Family and friends take heart in the fact that her suffering was temporary, but the joy to come will last forever.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-335-0100.
