Catherine Yorio

Catherine Ann Yorio, 70, passed away on April 25, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pittsburgh on April 22, 1954 to the late John and Helen Gallagher (Francis). Cathy was the cherished wife of the late Patrick for 32 years and the devoted mother of Patrick Yorio (Kimberly), Elizabeth Poirier, and Jillian Morrow (Robert). She was a doting grandmother to Hannah, Gabriella, Patrick, Gianna, Robert, Charles, Katherine, Robyn, Thomas, and Teresa. In addition to her immediate family, Cathy will be fondly remembered by her brother Daniel Gallagher(Louann) and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Carol and brother Peter.

Cathy graduated from Mercy’s School of Nursing and had an admirable career as a registered nurse working for St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh until it closed in 2002. She then transitioned on to work within the UPMC health system, earned her Master of Nursing from Carlow University and became a respected Nurse Practitioner before her retirement in 2019. Cathy made countless memories and friends during her 40-year career as a nurse. She was known by her colleagues, friends, and family as a brilliant clinician. More than anything, she loved being with her 10 grandchildren whom she adored.
