Daniel Mudrinich, 90, of New Kensington, PA, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on September 6, 1934, in Harwick, he was the son of the late Nickolai and Julia (Molnar) Mudrinich.
Dan worked as a bus driver for the Port Authority Transit in the Pittsburgh area for 35 years. A devout member of St. Joseph Church in New Kensington and a Lifetime Member of the Seventh Street Sportsman’s Club, Dan was well-loved by his community and cherished by all who knew him.
Dan, lovingly known as "Nonno" to his family, was a man of joy and warmth. His radiant smile and hearty laugh could light up any room, and he affectionately nicknamed everyone “Schport,” greeting them with his trademark charm and humor.
A proud Marine, Dan served his country with honor and was deeply patriotic. During his time in the Marine Corps, he worked as a baker and earned several awards for his remarkable skills. Dan had a zest for life, embracing every moment with passion. He loved spending time with his family, golfing, playing cards, watching football, and enjoying camaraderie with friends at the Sportsman’s Club.
Dan also cherished quiet moments on his porch, listening to polka music, the Tamburitzans, or Andrea Bocelli. He was deeply proud of his Serbian heritage, celebrating Christmas on both December 25th and January 7th with traditional customs and attending Serbian picnics. Growing up in a family of nine siblings, Dan often shared stories from his humble childhood that were a testament to the values of gratitude and resilience that shaped his character.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia (Sanesi) Mudrinich; his children, Nick Mudrinich (Robbee) of Lower Burrell, and Danielle Kowalkowski (Dave Horvat) of Lower Burrell; his grandchildren, Nick (Shannon) Mudrinich of Lower Burrell, Jennae Mudrinich (Brett Saltrick) of Edinboro, PA, and Jordyn, Jessica, and William Kowalkowski, all of Lower Burrell; and great grandchildren Avery and Echo Mudrinich of Lower Burrell; his siblings, Mary Kilgore of New Kensington, Donna (Jim) Randolph of Florida, and Eli Mudrinich of Columbus, OH.
