June 1, 2023 Darcy Caliguri , 71 of New Kensington, left us unexpectedly. The Best Pap- Pap, Daddy, Husband and friend for life you could have ever known. If you knew him, you knew that his family meant everything to him.
Darcy and Janice were married in 1977, and raised two sons, Jason and Joshua.
Darcy attended Penn Hall Academy, and Graduated from Burrell High School in 1970, from there he attended the Opticians Institute in Pittsburgh.
You probably know “Darce” as the proprietor of Fashion Optical in Lower Burrell, where, for 42 years, he expertly fit, crafted and repaired eyeglasses.
After retiring in 2011, Darcy enjoyed his next job, being proud Pap-Pap to 3 amazing grandchildren, Macin, Declan, and Finnian. He enjoyed spending his days watching the little ones, and watching Jerry Springer.
Darcy was passionate about connecting with his sons by restoring and driving his muscle cars, his ‘70 Super bee and the “Lil Red”. He would often argue the finer points of how long it takes to get them back on the road.
Darcy did things his way all the way to the end, but he was always supportive and loving. In the words of his favorite song “I faced it all, I stood tall and did it my way”.
Darcy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janice (Wicks), His sons, Jason (Gina) of Whitehall, and Joshua of Shaler, A brother, Frank (Nancy) of Lower Burrell, His 3 grandsons, Macin Watson (Jillian) of Castle Shannon, Declan Caliguri and Finnian Caliguri.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Courtney, and his parents Albert and Adelynne.
Friends will be received 5-8pm Wed, June 7th at RJ Slater IV Funeral Home, 1000 Freeport Rd. New Kensington Pa 15068. 724-335-0100. www.rjslater.com
