Ms. Dolores (Petitta) Brewer, 87, heard the voice of the Good Shepherd and peacefully passed from this life at her home on April 28, 2026. She was born at home to the late Lewis and Rose Petitta on August 1, 1938 in Arnold, Pennsylvania.
She lived her entire life in the New Kensington and Arnold area except for a stint in Fairbanks, Alaska at Eielson Air Force Military Base. Dolores' unwavering Catholic faith carried her through life's joys, difficulties, and sorrows. She proudly served the local community as a Dispatcher and then worked in evidence and records at the New Kensington Police Department where she was proud to wear her badge for the community she loved and support local law enforcement.
Dolores was always put together with her signature red hair and freshly painted nails. Her sweet tooth was well known together with her enjoyment of all things Italian. Her love of flowers and gardening brought brightness into the world. Dolores loved all of her family immensely and was happiest when everyone was gathered together. In her later years, the "babies" gave her the greatest joy. She was a proud member of Mount Saint Peter Church, which her grandfather helped to build, and the Addolorata Society.
Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her first child, Louise Brewer, brothers Frank and Robert Petitta, and her former husband Preston. Dolores is survived by her beloved daughters Laurie (Rick) Pujol, Susan (Dave) Krafick; grandchildren, Andrew (Chelsea) Pujol, Rebecca (Brandon) Knotts, The Rev. Christopher Pujol; great grandchildren, Lydia and Camden Pujol, and Harper Knotts; and extended family.
Family and friends will be welcomed Friday, May 1st, 5-8 pm in the RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services 1000 Freeport Rd New Kensington PA 724-335-0100. Prayers of transfer will take place at 10am followed by the Funeral Mass at 1030am at Mt. St. Peter Church, New Kensington, with her grandson Fr. Pujol presiding. Committal services and burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
