Donald M. Wisniewski, 66, of Lower Burrell, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J Wisniewski for 34 loving years. Donald was the son of the late Joseph M. Wisniewski Sr. and Mary Frances Peeden, of Manchester, N.H. He is survived by his sister, Karin Wisniewski and her husband, Bob Schlesinger, of Gulfport, Fla.; and his extended family, including Janine Gawryl, of Auburn, N.H., beloved wife of Don's late older brother, Joseph Jr. His extended family included his dear friend for more than 50 years, John Hynes; and the many others whose lives he touched. Donald was born and raised in Manchester, N.H. and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in recreational therapy. He served proudly in the Air Force as a recreation services specialist and later, in civilian life, eventually becoming chief of recreational therapy in the Pittsburgh VA healthcare system. He was an avid sports fan, fisherman and golfer. His volunteer efforts on behalf of disabled veterans are legendary. He was a man who would do anything he could to help others in need. Donald wrote that he wished to be remembered as "the loving and caring husband to his best friend and wife, Barbara." He enjoyed life and especially the time he spent with family and friends.
