Donna Getz

Donna E. Getz, 88, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born on April 16, 1936, in New Kensington to the late Melvin and Esther (Hoover) Ross, Donna remained a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Arnold High School in 1954, where she met her beloved husband, the late Robert C. "Bob" Getz.

Donna was known for her lifelong dedication to serving others. She spent many years volunteering at Citizens General Hospital and actively supported the Meals on Wheels program in Lower Burrell. Her commitment to helping others was a hallmark of her life, as was her deep connection with her friends. Donna cherished her weekly luncheons with her card club, rarely missing a gathering.
A proud and devoted member of Trinity United Christian Church in Lower Burrell, Donna found great joy in her faith and community.

She is survived by her loving children, Kurt R. (Monica) Getz and Jeffrey A. Getz, both of New Kensington, and Leslie E. (Michael) Valchar of New Kensington. She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren: Lisa Lewandowski, Robert Getz, Kayla Getz, Joshua Getz, Sara Getz, Stephanie Valchar, Miles Valchar and the late Michael Valchar. Donna also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Emily, Jillian, and Claire Lewandowski, and Alice and Michael Getz, Hunter Yockley and Geogre Shirey III; along with Loving sister of Marlene Hajel.

Per her wishes there will be No Public Services Donna will be laid to rest in a private service along with her husband in Union Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Kensington, PA.
