Douglas Scott Coward (Doug, Dad, Pup), of Upper Burrell, born January 22, 1949, at Citizens General Hospital, in New Kensington, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, February 6, 2023. He was surrounded by his family, pastor, and friends.
He graduated from Burrell High School 1967. Doug accepted Christ Jesus as his Savior and Lord, Sept 14, 1985. He enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife of 54 years, hunting, fishing, operating heavy equipment, and distributing God’s word as a Gideon International member. He served as The Gideon’s Memorial Bible Chairman and Chaplain for years, was an Elder and member of Lower Burrell Baptist Church, and held several offices with Christian Motorcycle Association since 2009. He was president of Bull Creek Rod and Gun Club for 9 years. He loved being with his girls, grandsons, and great-grandson, spending time together hunting, target practicing, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed watching Jeffrey and Isaac wrestle and play.
Doug was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and was part owner of Coward Contracting Company, of Lower Burrell. He worked for Davison Sand and Gravel as a dredge operator and was a member of Local Union 66B since 1969.
Doug is the son of the late Delmar L. and Marion (Ross) Coward Sr. He is the beloved husband and soul mate of Dulcina M. Coward, father of Brenda J. (Alan) Milito of Upper Burrell, and Kelly L. (Robert) Kosecki, also of Upper Burrell, grandfather of Jeffrey A. Shutak Jr. of Creighton, Zachary D. Shutak (Victoria Mikula) of Natrona Heights, and step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn A. (Nicholas) Colledge of Natrona Heights, Isaac Kosecki and great grandson Jeffrey, his sisters Marion Kepes of Florida and Madonna Flinn of Lower Burrell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother David, and Delmar (Brud) L. Coward Jr.
Doug did not want to have a funeral service. There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate his life on March 12, 2023, at 2pm with a dinner following at Lower Burrell Baptist Church, 2935 Leechburg Rd, Lower Burrell PA 15068.
