Edward Daniel Benning, age 81, embraced his final journey peacefully on Thursday, February 29th, at Concordia Lutheran Skilled Nursing in Cabot, surrounded by his beloved wife Debbie, daughter Tiffany (who had been one of his dedicated caregivers since January), and granddaughter Abigail.
Ed dedicated 42 years of his life as a shop superintendent boilermaker at Monroe Inc., formerly in Oakmont, before gracefully retiring in the mid-2000s. A proud Navy veteran, Ed served aboard the USS Henry B Wilson for four years, voyaging across the nation and beyond, before returning home in 1966.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ed cherished moments with his late bichon dog Lilly, and weekends spent with his wife at Smith Grove Campground in Summit Twp. He eagerly anticipated monthly poker nights with his close friends Herd Wise and Ron Schrag.
Ed will forever be remembered for his infectious smile, his thick, beautiful white hair, his sparkling eyes, and his kind demeanor toward all whom he encountered. He was a dedicated member of the Lower Burrell VFW, American Legion, and the NRA.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Deborah Painter-Benning, his daughter Tiffany Lynn Feroce, granddaughter Abigail Trzeciak, grandsons Tyler Trzeciak and Gabriel David, as well as his son Ed Jr (partner Sandy) and daughter Denise Sullivan; grandsons Nathan and Colton.
