Eleanor “Ellie” Jane Cato, 90 years old of New Kensington, PA, and formerly of the North Side of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, with her loving daughter, Barbara, by her side.
Eleanor was born on March 02, 1933, to Eleanor Williams-Hargest and Lloyd Hargest in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the beloved wife/widow of Glenn Cato and sister to Charles Hargest (deceased). Eleanor was a devoted mother to Barbara Brown and David Cato, grandmother to Stephanie Cable (deceased) and (Kevin Cable, spouse), Glenn Brown and (Renee Brown, spouse) and great-grandmother to Raymond Cable and Connor Brown.
Eleanor worked for St. Johns Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) as a switchboard operator for years and Kings Family Restaurant, (Cranberry Twp., PA). She was known for her humor and loving disposition. Eleanor will be remembered for accepting everyone with an open heart, open arms, warm smile, and a “Love Ya” to family, friends, and even complete strangers.
She will be greatly missed and leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends that will be difficult to fill, but also leaves smiles on the faces of the lives she touched with the comfort of knowing that she will forever remain in our hearts and always smiling upon us from above.

Eleanor will be laid to rest with her husband, Glenn, at Highwood Cemetery, on Brighton Road in Pittsburgh, PA.
