Elizabeth Henderson

July 13, 1948 — October 2, 2022

Elizabeth “Liz” L. Henderson, 74, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania died October 1, 2022. Liz was born July 13, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky to Charles B. Porter Sr. (father) and Mary Bell Porter (mother).

Liz lived a busy life. She completed her associates degree in Ohio. After moving to Pennsylvania, she graduated from the Metro-Urban Institute and the Harty Bible School. Although she was a homemaker, she utilized all her time helping friends and family as well as volunteering in the community.

Additionally, she was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching the Steeler games and loved coaching softball for the New Kensington Little League for many years. Cooking was another thing she loved, and grilling was her specialty. She would wake up at the crack of dawn to start grilling her ribs and making macaroni and cheese.

Liz was always willing to give advice and share her opinions. Despite her fiery personality, she had a soft spot for people and was a caregiver to many friends and family. She was widely known for her outspoken personality and was appreciated by the community for her big heart.

Above all, she was an active member of the church. Throughout different churches, Liz sang in the choir and was a part of the trustee board. She was also an Evangelist in the Pittsburgh/West Virginia Annual Conference AME church. She often encouraged others with her favorite scripture Psalms 46, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" followed by her favorite saying “There is no failure in God”.

She is survived by her daughter, Rashida Campbell (Marlon); and several grandchildren Jason Andrews Jr., Zachary Hickman, Mariah Acre, Eric Henderson Jr., Brianna Hooper, Tierra Henderson, Braelyn Henderson, Erica Henderson, Chloe Davis; siblings, William, Earl, Michael, Alfred, Onnie, Margaret, and Ethel; eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Henderson; her son, Eric Henderson; her grandson, Jaxon Henderson; her brother, Charles Porter Jr.; her parents, Charles B.
