Elvera Mary Richards

June 10, 1953 — March 24, 2026

Elvira Mary Richards, 72, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2026, following unknown heart complications.

Born on June 10, 1953, to Elizabeth "Betty" Butch Olenik and Howard J. Anthony, Vera was raised by her Aunt Teny Banichar, who played a meaningful role in her upbringing.

Vera was a kind and gentle soul with a warm spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She had a natural ability to connect with others and could effortlessly strike up a conversation with anyone she met, often leaving a lasting impression through her kindness.

Throughout much of her adult life, Vera quietly battled obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), a challenge she carried with strength and resilience, often unknown to those around her. Despite this, her faith remained a guiding light. She held a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ, which brought her comfort and peace.

A homemaker, Vera found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a love for shopping, fashion, and beauty, and her favorite treats, chocolate, pizza and Pepsi! Above all, she deeply loved her husband, Russell, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Vera is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Richards of New Kensington, PA; her daughter, Megan Richards of Deltona, Florida; her grandson, Spencer Fennick of Deltona, Florida; and her great-grandson, Michael Santamaria. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Crow, along with many extended family members, including brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews on both the Richards and Banichar sides of the family.

In accordance with Vera's wishes, there will be no public services or viewing. Her greatest celebration is now being in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ whom she loved so dearly.

In lieu of services, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to one of the following organizations: the International OCD Foundation, The Peace of Mind Foundation, or the Foundation for OCD Research.

May Vera now rest in peace, free from the burdens she carried in this life and in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.
