Florence Polas

Florence Ann Polas, age 95, of Arnold, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. She was born on November 12, 1930, in Leechburg, to the late Louis and Teresa (Audo) Conto.

Florence was a loving and devoted mother to Robert (Pamela) Polas, a cherished grandmother to Shawn, Robert (Monique), and Bryan (Marisa) Polas, and a proud great-grandmother to Monique, Brielle, and Mia.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nick Polas; her sons, James, Thomas, and Billy Polas; and her sister, Lillian Sendykar.

A lifelong resident of Arnold, Florence enjoyed crossword puzzles and visiting the casino. She dedicated many years of her life to serving her community whether it was working at her father's store "Conto's Market" in Arnold, or over 40 years at Kmart and later spending 13 years at the local Golden Dawn. Florence deeply treasured her family and had a special love for her basset hounds, who brought her great joy throughout her life.

In accordance with her wishes, services will be private, with burial at Union Cemetery in Arnold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Florence's name to Droopy Basset Hound Rescue, 15581 Stewart Hill Road, Union City, PA 16438.
