Frank H. Meyer, 83, of Lower Burrell, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was born Nov. 12, 1939, in New Kensington, to the late Francis J. and Lubow (Maduk) Meyer.
He was the loving father of Doug, Rich and Valerie; grandfather of Samantha, Sydney, Brittany, Dylan and Andrew Meyer; brother of Ray (June) Meyer, of South Bend Township, and Alice (John) Brunscak, of the Woodlands, Texas. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his infant sister, Mary Margaret, in 1948, and sisters, Margi Dunnigan and Marcia (surviving husband Roy Frack).
In 1957, Frank completed his studies at Arnold High School, and the following year, he joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Forrest Sherman and the Atlantic Fleet. Later, he worked as a line mechanic and service manager for Pontiac in Arnold before joining Alcoa in 1977. For the next 28 years, he worked as a senior carbon technologist and chemical pilot plant supervisor. After retiring, Frank continued his work for Alcoa as a Consultant, traveling to locations around the world to share his expertise. Frank was a valued member of several organizations, including the Alcoa 25-year Club, the American Legion Post 868, of Lower Burrell, and the 7th Street Sportsman's Club. He had many hobbies, such as hunting, fishing and home remodeling, and was known as a "jack of all trades." Frank found joy in meticulously restoring a classic 1949 Ford F-1 truck with his son Rich and enjoyed showing it off at local classic car shows. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends for a spirited debate followed by a few laughs over a good draft beer.
As he grew older, he found joy in walking around the neighborhood and at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
