Gilbert "Gil" Schrock, aged 81, of Upper Burrell, departed this world on October 17, 2023. He was born on May 14, 1942, in New Field, Pennsylvania, to his late parents, Austin and Rita Schrock.
Gil was a cherished husband to Mary Lou (Antoniono) Schrock for 33 wonderful years. He leaves behind a legacy as a devoted father to Mark Schrock, Jill (Andy) Mueller, Sandy (Pete Dziaeyk) Simpson, Michelle Schrock, and stepfather to Sean (Lori) Reynolds and Richard Lichok.
As a loving patriarch, Gil embraced the role of grandfather to Jade, Nichole, Jackie, Tia, C.J., Mark, Anthony, Daniel, Justin, and 17 great-grandchildren, with one great-great-grandchild.
Gil is survived by his sisters, Sharon Mikus and Rita Greenburg. In addition to his parents, Gil was predeceased by his two sons, Tom and Pete, as well as his siblings, Bud, Irene, and most recently, his twin brother, Howard.
Gil's absence is deeply felt, particularly by his loyal companion, his dog, Sam.
A man of diverse passions, Gil enjoyed hunting, camping, leisurely rides on his pontoon boat, and proudly identified as a diehard Steelers fan. He served as the assistant Director of the American Legion Riders Post 868, a role he held dear to his heart. Gil was also an esteemed member of Bethel Lodge 789 F&AM.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the RJ Slater IV Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, on Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM. Sons of American Legion Squadron 868 will hold a service at 6:30A Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Paul Barton at 7 PM, offering an opportunity for all who knew Gil to honor his life and share their memories.
