Gladys Smeltz

Gladys Smeltz, 83, of Arnold, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 12, 2025, with her son by her side. She was born on August 4, 1942, in New Kensington, to the late Patsy and Delia Salandria.

Gladys was a loving mother to Scott (Toni) Smeltz and Douglas Smeltz, and a proud grandmother to Kennedy, Jude, Brooklyn, and Jamison. She was the sister of Carol (Ronald) Swab and the aunt of Brian.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Coglio.

Gladys was a familiar and friendly face in the community, having worked as an associate at the New Kensington Kmart for over 40 years. She enjoyed trips to the casino and was especially known for her warm, freshly baked pies, which she loved sharing with family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her niece Angelica for her love, care, and compassion.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at R.J. Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA (724-335-0100). Entombment will follow at Union Cemetery in Arnold, PA.
