Gregory P. Kurpakus
June 23, 1953 - April 2, 2026
Gregory P. Kurpakus, 72, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Kensington to the late Agnes (Unites) and Stanley A. Kurpakus.
Greg proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1975 and continued his service in the Army Reserves from 1975 to 1978. During his time in the military, he had the opportunity to travel throughout the world. He remained deeply committed to supporting fellow veterans and was an active member of American Legion Post 347. He served as Post Commander from 2010 until 2024, and even after stepping down, he continued to dedicate his time by placing grave markers and flags on veterans' graves in local cemeteries each year.
Throughout his life, Greg was known for his strong work ethic and versatility. He worked as a boilermaker and welder, was employed by Conrail, owned his own construction business, and later spent many years as a truck driver, both over the road and locally, until his retirement.
Greg was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marsha (Clark), with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. He lovingly cared for her until her passing in January 2020.
He was a loving father to Amanda Kurpakus, a proud grandfather to Dominick Kurpakus and Brittania Kurpakus, and a great grandfather to Sophia Howell Kurpakus and Da'Vante Kurpakus.
In addition to his wife, Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Stanley Kurpakus; his brothers, Anthony and Larry Kurpakus; and his granddaughter, Morgan Kurpakus. He is survived by his sister, Linda (Tom) House of New Kensington, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Greg enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, spending time at camp, and being with his dogs. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and especially cherished time spent with his family and friends.
In accordance with Greg's wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to RJ Slater IV Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA. 724-335-0100. Please visit www.rjslater.comfor online condolences.
