Gregory Plunkett

May 1, 1965 — August 22, 2025

Gregory A. Plunkett, 60, of New Kensington, passed August 22, 2025 at home with his family.

Greg was born May 1, 1965, to Mary Agnes (Hammett) and Russell Clayton Plunkett in Leonardtown, MD.

Gregory is survived by his loving wife, just shy of 14 years, Erika (Males) Plunkett, his son Justin Russell Plunkett, sister Sharyn (Mike) Hutson, nieces and nephews, and a plethora of friends (including the CC Crew) and family that will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Greg served in the Army and was an IT professional. Greg’s pride and joy was the day his son was born, sunny side up looking right at daddy. He loved to travel with his family and see new and unique things. He loved to try new food and loved Christmas baking with his wife, well at least being the taste tester. Being born in Southern Maryland, there is no surprise, that he loved blue crabs and oysters. He truly enjoyed the simpler things in life and loved watching sports of all kinds. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, but did not reserve his opinion if he disagreed with you. He loved to be outside cutting grass, cooking on the grill, and spending quiet time with his family and friends telling stories and making memories.

Greg will be sorely missed by his family, but there is peace knowing the suffering is done and he will be watching over and protecting them. Let the butterflies be prevalent around us.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date for family and friends to come together and enjoy the time together, reminisce, laugh and love.
