Jo Ann (Jody) Harclerode
April 17, 1948—August 9th, 2025

Jody passed away on August 9th, 2025 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA surrounded by her family.

She was born April 17th, 1948 in New Paris, PA the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Doris (Johnson) Sleek.

She is survived by her son Brian (Carrie Jo) Harclerode from Worthington, son Mark Harclerode from Arnold, daughter Shelly (Bill Dudek) Harclerode from Brackenridge, and Joe (Dana) Harclerode from New Kensington. Grandchildren-Lauren (Zach) Bush, Aubrey (Jake) Wood, Kayci, Ethan, Ian, Landon, Christian, & Sophie. Great Grandchildren- Laina, Zaiden, and Tessa Mae, brother Tom (Annette) Sleek of Clermont, FL, sister Barb Carson of New Paris, PA, brother Rick (Jackie) Sleek also from New Paris, sister-in-law Jan Sleek from Harrisburg, sister-in-law Carolyn (Jim) Arnold of Bedford, brother-in-law Roger Harclerode of PA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Rand Sleek, brother-in-law Wayne Carson, and brother James and sister Sandra who died in infancy.

Jody was terrified of heights, snakes, bridges and several other somewhat irrational things, but death was not one of them. She could often be heard speaking of her faith to anyone that would listen.

Her perfect day would be one surrounded by her children and grandchildren, pruning her flowers, with a fresh batch of cookies in the oven to share with the group. Of course, a freshly cracked can of Pepsi could be found nearby.

She loved sports, and for some reason she became a fan of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. While normally she was the voice of reason and logic, this may have been one of only a handful of lapses in her judgement. Go Steelers!!!!!

Perhaps her favorite pastime, however, was to tell those around her how proud she was of them. She was small in stature, but her love was large. She never missed a milestone or even a simple moment that was important to those that she loved.

In short, she showed up every single day to show us all just how much we were loved, valued, and appreciated. This is what we will miss the most.
A private service will be held at a later date.
