Joan Schuffert

Joan C. (Runski) Schuffert, 78, of New Kensington, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late David L. Schuffert; loving mother of David (Brandi) Schuffert, Richard (Lori) Schuffert, Jodi (Chris) Ashbaugh, and Debbie (Ron) Vernon; grandmother of Kathrine (Tom) Cooper, Joshua Schuffert, Emilie and Matt Ashbaugh, and Madison, and David Schuffert; great-grandmother of Noah Cooper; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Carl Runski and Dolores "Pudge" Castorina. Joan's favorite day of the year was having family come together for Wigilia on Christmas Eve. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, but spending time with family was her pride and joy. Family and friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington (724-335-0100), where prayers of transfer will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed at noon by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church.
