John Robert Dankis, 68
Of Cheswick, formerly of Brookline, passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was born August 24, 1956, in Pittsburgh, to the late Wilda (Janakis) Dankis.
In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his twin sons, Shawn and James and his brother George
He is survived by the cherished mother of his children Melissa Dankis and beloved father to Maggie (Dustin Gauthier) and Mia. He was also a loving grandfather to Stella. He is survived by his dear brother and sister-in-law, George & Jennifer Massacci, and his nephews, Michael, Anthony, and Santino.
John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1977 and in the Army National Guard from 1991 to 1997. He had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, camping, and hiking. Known as a jack of all trades and a collector of all items, John brought joy to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
