John F. Kronkoski, 93, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the Southwestern Veterans Center. Born on March 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank and Syvilla (Wolfe) Kronkoski.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952, during which time he was attached to the U.S. Marine Corps as a Fleet Marine. Following his military service, he attended Duquesne University and pursued various insurance and business courses. His professional career included roles at several insurance and manufacturing companies before retiring in 1993 as a production foreman at PPG Industries.

John had a lifelong passion for gardening, detailing cars, and enjoying games such as billiards, cards, and darts at the New Kensington Eagles. A devoted sports fan, he cheered on the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Steelers, and the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. John also had a deep love for animals, cherishing the companionship of many beloved cats and dogs over the years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43½ years, Jean (Froelich) Kronkoski; his son, Jeffery Kronkoski of North Carolina; and his nephew, Robert (Cathy) Finfer. He is also remembered by his nieces, Cheryl Ann, Diane Cathleen, and Nancy Marie. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Finfer.

A Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 12 noon in St. Joseph’s Church, 1125 Leishman Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068.
