Lucille "Lucia" (Henry) Schoenig
April 14, 1927 – December 31, 2024
Lucille Schoenig, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024 at her daughter’s home. Born on April 14, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lucille spent most of her life in her hometown, where she built a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.
Lucille is survived by her devoted sister Rose (James) Raimondi; her daughters Yvonne (Henry) Krasny, of Cranberry Twp.; Madeline (Gregory) Banks, of Apollo; and Christine (Richard) McFarlane, of East Liverpool; her nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Schoenig, son William C. Schoenig, sister Madeline Henry, parents, Charles Henry and Madeline Henry, as well as her partners later in life, Robert (Bob) Fink and Thomas (Tom) Schoenig.
Lucille took great pride in her years of work at Gimbels in downtown Pittsburgh and at Monumental Life. A talented cook, she loved cooking Italian dishes and home-baked treats. Lucille had a knack for sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed challenging her mind with crosswords and sudoku puzzles, and relaxing with her favorite mystery television shows. A devoted dog owner, Lucille cherished the companionship of her furry friends.
Lucille was a lifelong Catholic whose faith guided her through life. She loved spending time at the beach, particularly Cape May, New Jersey; and enjoyed several of her golden years in the Golden State of California.
Lucille will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and love for her family, and she will be dearly missed.
A private memorial will be held on January 3 from 5 to 8pm at RJ Slater Funeral Home, with interment to follow at a later date at Saint Mary Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
