Martin John "Marty" Pistella

Martin John "Marty" Pistella passed away peacefully on July 14, surrounded by the love of his family.

For 38 years, Marty was the devoted and beloved husband of Danielle, sharing a life filled with laughter, loyalty, friendship, and unwavering love.

Born and raised in Bloomfield, Marty was the cherished son of the late Martin Andrew "Toots" Pistella and Celia Lysakowski. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Pistella Wade (John) and Carol Pistella Regelman (Don), as well as his brothers-in-law Dan Tarabrella and Mario "Uch" Tarabrella.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Tarabrella, and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved him dearly: Dan (Cris Ann), Christina (Bill), Louie, Theresa (Don), Ron, Paula (Rick), and Mark (Debbie); and Angela, Nicholas, Daniel, Liam, Ben, Aidan, Maisie, Donovan, and Dana.

Marty graduated from Arsenal Washington Vocational High School and spent his entire career in the automobile business, a profession that perfectly matched his passion for cars. Whether attending a car show, talking shop, or admiring a classic ride, Marty was happiest when surrounded by automobiles and the people who shared that enthusiasm. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, proudly cheering on his hometown teams through every season.

Those who knew Marty knew that he was the very definition of an old-school gentleman. He was kind, genuine, effortlessly cool, and proudly Pittsburgh through and through. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, and it seemed there wasn't a place he could go without running into a friend. Marty truly never met a stranger-only people he hadn't gotten to know yet.

He often joked that his life was so full he needed extra hours in the day, and anyone who walked into a room with Marty knew exactly what he meant. His presence was unmistakable. His warm smile, quick wit, and easy conversation drew people in, while his kindness and generosity left a lasting impression. Over the years, he built countless friendships and touched innumerable lives simply by being himself.

Marty's legacy lives on in the love he shared with his family, the friendships he treasured, and the many lives he enriched through his compassion, humor, and loyalty. The memories he created will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and gratitude to those fortunate enough to have known him.

As Dean Martin sang:

A celebration of Marty's life will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
