Michael Chicka

Michael (Muxs) Steve Chicka Jr, 67, of Tionesta, Pa., died on Thursday October 13, 2022 at his home five days before his birth date Oct. 18, 1954, son of Michael and Goldie Sheffler Chicka. Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, Alan and David.

Michael grew up in Slickville and graduated from Greensburg Salem, class of 1972. He was a wrestler and power lifter in those years. He attended Penn State University, graduated in Mining Engineering. Michael was employed with Helvetia Coal, Consol Energy, and T&P Engineering Inc. as a Field Operations Manager up until his retirement in 2012.

Michael lived life on his own terms, right up until the end. Truly an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and helping others in his neighborhood. His favorite pastime was being at home (“Kamp”) with friends and family.

Michael is survived by his son Michael Steve Chicka III (Ginger), daughter Shawney Hines, grandchild Gia Chicka, three sisters, Debi Gross (Frank, best friend), Lauretta Eisler (Mark), and Romayne Carter, five (like sister cousins) Patty (Gary), Vickie (Barry), Connie, Joyce (Charlie), Terrie, and his many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

His friends and family will be invited to share memories of Michael as we celebrate his life in a way he would want us to. A memorial time will be announced.
