Peggy Steinberg, age 66, of Plum, passed away on December 27, 2023. She was born on June 2, 1957, in Nagoya, Japan, to the late Bruce and Agnes Chappell Sr. Loving wife of Bill Hilliard. Peggy was a devoted and loving mother to Natalie, Ben (Majel), and Samantha, and a cherished grandmother to Olivia, Vivenne, and Angelo Navari, as well as Levi and Lyla Steinberg. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Chappell Jr., in 2016.
Peggy's journey began in Japan, and she spent her formative years in Germany before eventually settling in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she graduated from the University of North Carolina. She was not only a woman of intellect but also a woman of diverse passions. Peggy found joy in cooking, expressing her creativity through painting, cultivating beauty through gardening, and creating warm and inviting spaces through her love of decorating.
One of Peggy's greatest gifts was her ability to bring laughter and smiles to those around her. Whether through a well-timed joke or a thoughtful gesture, she had a unique talent for brightening the lives of others. Her warm and welcoming spirit created lasting connections with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In honor of Peggy's life, private services will be held, and arrangements are entrusted to R.J. Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by her presence.
