In Loving Memory of Richard "Dick" Hessom
Richard "Dick" Hessom peacefully went home to be with our Lord on November 26, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 9, 1930, to the late Joseph E. and Ernestine (Kline) Hessom, Dick lived a life marked by dedication, love, and craftsmanship.
He was the cherished husband of P. Lynne (McIntyre) Hessom, and their enduring love was set to celebrate an extraordinary 73 years, with only 27 days shy of this remarkable milestone. A devoted father, Dick leaves behind a legacy of love through his six children: Randy D. (Diane) Hessom, Cheryl A. (Scotty) Scott, Joni (Rick) Sader, Terry B. (Annie) Hessom, Brad K. Hessom, and the late Richard D. Hessom. His spirit lives on through 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Dick's journey reunites him with his parents and son, Richard, as well as his brothers Joseph E. and John Wesley Hessom, and great-grandson Christopher J. Inglese.
From a young age, Dick exhibited a strong work ethic, commencing his career as an apprentice at 16. For a decade, he honed his skills at the Glass House in Arnold before dedicating 33 years to Westinghouse, retiring at the age of 59. Embracing retirement, he indulged in his first passion, fishing, at his cherished camp on Lake Erie.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dick was an accomplished woodworker. His hands crafted beautiful furniture, mini porch swings, wall hangings, shelves, and intricate scrollwork, reflecting his passion for creating and leaving a lasting mark on the world.
