It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Bruce Jacobus, of New Kensington. Rick passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 78 after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer.
Born to Wilbur and Florence (Suprenant) Jacobus on April 2, 1947. Richard was a proud 1965 graduate of Ken High and went on to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He dedicated over 30 years of his career to research at Alcoa Technical Center and later served the City of New Kensington as Code Enforcement Officer for over 10 years with the same dedication and integrity.
Richard was married to the love of his life, Anne Lynch Jacobus, for over 48 wonderful years. Together they raised two daughters, Carrie (Jeff Karaica) and Courtney (Michael) Hernandez, who brought him immense pride and joy.
His greatest pleasure was spending time with his girls on family vacations and dinners- and with his cars. A lifelong car enthusiast, Richard loved working on classic cars and owned many over the years—his prized 1966 Corvette being a favorite. His hobby created lasting friendships with many cherished friends. He was also a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan and was a proud Steelers season ticket holder for over 50 years.
Richard will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength. His deep love for his family, his passion for his hobbies, and his dedication to his community leave a lasting legacy. He was a man who was always willing to help a friend, family member, or stranger in need and his generosity will be missed by many.
A viewing will be held at R.J. Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Services (1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington) on Friday July 11 from 4-8 Pm
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM at St Margaret Mary Church (3055 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org)
