Richard Sekanick

Richard Sekanick. 94, formerly of Mount Pleasant and New Kensington, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born on June 25, 1928, in Mount Pleasant to the late William & Sarah (Slominsky) Sekanick. Loving husband of Betty for 64 beautiful years. Father of Bruce (Karen) and Brian (Audrey) Sekanick. Grandfather of Vincent (Cassie), Garrett (Samantha), Kelsey (Patrick) Cavanaugh, Brandon, and Ryan. Great-grandfather of Abby, Luke, and Lydia. He was preceded in death by his brother the late William (Alice) Sekanick.

Richard proudly served in the US Army and graduated from Saint Vincent College. He taught in the Deer Lakes School District and loved coaching the school’s baseball teams. He enjoyed watching sports, jigsaw puzzles, his postcard collection, and gardening.

Friends are welcome from 3–7 pm Thursday at RJ SLATER IV FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington (724-335-0100). Mass will be at 10 am Friday at St Mary of Czestochowa. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to St Mary of Czestochowa Church in New Kensington. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.
