Robert L. Body went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Bob was born in West Tarentum on March 22, 1947. He is survived by his wife Donna L. Myers of Lower Burrell and his sister Mary Jane Body of Brackenridge. Bob has three children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren by marriage. Bob was predeceased by his brother James Body Jr. and his parents James and Gertrude Fleming Body.
As a boy, Robert enjoyed dance lessons and skating at the Tarena in Tarentum. He graduated from HarBrack High School. After graduation, Robert joined the Navy in 1965 and was discharged in 1969. He served in Vietnam in 1969, stationed in Da Nang at Camp Tien Sha. After his discharge, Robert lived in Massachusetts for many years. He moved back to Pennsylvania to begin his career as an over-the-road truck driver, working for ECM for several years.
Bob is of the Baptist Faith and belongs to Calvary Baptist Church in Natrona Heights where he was a Trustee and Head Usher. Recently he attended Allegheny Valley Church of Christ.
Bob was an active member of the VFW Post 92, holding offices as Jr. and Sr. Vice, managing entertainment, grounds and as a member of the House Committee.
Bob held the positions of District Commander for the VFW District 27 for two years and as a Committee Member of the State For Patriot's Pen. He belonged to the American Legion Post 868 in Lower Burrell and volunteered at the Aspinwall Veterans Hospital.
Bob's hobbies were many, including his love of cars, attending car shows, playing bocce with his friends, watching old television shows like Andy Griffith, Leave It To Beaver, Perry Mason and Western Movies. His favorite show was by far Roy Rogers.
Bob led a very active life; he cared about people and enjoyed the company of his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by his wife Donna, his sister Mary Jane and his many friends.
Family and friends are welcome Tuesday, October 5th 2021 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at the RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Rd., New Kensington, Pa. 15068. VFW Post 92 will hold a service at 3 pm, and The American Legion Post 868 will hold a service at 7 pm. Funeral services will be the following day, Wednesday October 6th at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
