Ronald F McNeish of Squirrel Hill passed peacefully after a short illness on March 27,2023 at the age of 87.
After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School he spent 3 yrs in The Marine Corps, which he was very proud of and spoke fondly of his time serving our country. With his creativity and artistic skills, he was encouraged to attend The Rochester Institute of Technology, School for American Craftsmen. Upon graduation he opened his custom goldsmith shop on Walnut St. in Shadyside, later known as The Collection. He spent over 50 years creating One of a Kind designs for people all over the world. He finally retired at the age of 80.
Ron enjoyed sharing his stories, knowledge and skills with anyone who wanted to learn - he was a mentor to many who went on to open their own custom jewelry businesses.
Designing was not only his livelihood, but it was his passion which he carried into his hobbies -Ron was always working on some project - in his garage, working on restoring cars or in the house renovating or fixing something.
A beloved husband to Barbara McCafferty McNeish for almost 60 yrs, father to Megan Carr McNeish, brother to Gilbert F McNeish of Denver CO. Preceded in death by his son Mark Christopher McNeish and brother Peter F McNeish. He will be missed by many family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
