Shirley Rosenberger, 93, of New Kensington passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. We are saddened to announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was born in Jeanette on August 27, 1927 to the late Harold and Edith (Barnhart) Beatty. Shirley was married to her high school sweetheart, Richard Rosenberger, on Valentine’s Day 1945. They were married for 75 years. Rich passed away on August 1, 2020. She was the loving mother of Susan (Melvin) Kelly of Austintown, OH, Richard K (Terry) Rosenberger of New Kensington, David (Marian) Rosenberger of New Kensington and Kimberly Carlisle of New Kensington; grandchildren, Brad (Joan) Kelly of Oceanside, CA, Kris (Carla) Kelly of Scotch Plains, NJ, Vanessa (Anthony) Rosenberger-Cheatham of Pittsburgh, Danielle (Jerry) Hurley of New Kensington, Nicole Rosenberger of Winter Garden , FL, Kristen Carlisle of Medford, Mass, Amber (Kevin) Wertheim of Alexandria, VA and Rebekah Carlisle of Pittsburgh; Great-Grandchildren, Cecelia, Valerie, Louis and Joseph Kelly of Scotch Plains, NJ and Isabella and Aubrielle Cheatham of Pittsburgh; sister of Harold (Joanne) Beatty of New Kensington and Donna (Wilson) Roys of New Kensington.
Besides Shirley’s husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her first daughter at birth; two brothers, William Beatty and James Beatty; three sisters, Grace (Herbert) Forsman, Lois (Alex) Olszewski and Elizabeth (John) Hultz; and her son-in-law, Daniel W. Carlisle.
Shirley graduated from Ken-Hi High School in 1945. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in New Kensington where she was involved with many dinners, picnics, bible school, Community Days and Doers. She was one of the longest members of the Aluminum City Terrace Housing Association. Shirley was a dedicated wife and mother who devoted her time to her family. Shirley loved to bake and if you ask anybody, she made the best homemade buns. Shirley enjoyed sitting on the back porch and watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds. She will be sadly missed.
Friends and Family will be received from 3-6pm Friday and 10am-11am Saturday where a service will be held immediately following at RJ Slater IV Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington. She will be buried at Plum Creek Cemetery.
