Bill was born on October 4, 1949, in New Kensington to Kenneth J. and Florence Borland Evans, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of New Kensington High School (1967), Grove City College (B.A., 1971), and Duquesne University (1975), where he earned the M.B.A. degree.
For 35 years, he held various executive positions in human resources with the Genuine Parts Company (NAPA products), headquartered in Georgia. In 1993, he moved from the Pittsburgh area to the Atlanta area as result of a job transfer, and he retired in 2013.
While living in the Pittsburgh area, Bill was a member of the Fox Chapel Rotary Club, where he served a year as President. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Kensington. In Marietta, he was active in his Homeowners Association, and was a member of the Roswell United Methodist Church.
He is survived by brothers K. James Jr. (Lisa) of Bradford; Stephen (Lisa) of Alpharetta, GA; Jeffrey (Sharon) of Allison Park; and by his sister, Anne (Nicholas) Korenowski of Chagrin Falls, OH. In addition, he is survived by a long-time friend, James Bowen of Peachtree Corners, GA, and by his nieces Shea Evans, Casey Evans Smith (Justin), Kayla Korenowski, Jenna Korenowski, and his nephew Nicholas Korenowski. Bill’s annual vacation to Ocean City, Maryland with members of his immediate family was always one of the highlights of his summers. He was deeply loved by all of them. He is also survived by many caring neighbors and friends, who showed extraordinary support during the years of his illness, and by his beloved canine companion, miniature golden doodle Molly.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 20, from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 8 PM at the R. J. Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-335-0100, where a service will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at 11 AM. He will be interred next to his parents at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
