Supporting Our New Kensington Community: Local First Responders & Touch-a-Truck Event
At RJ Slater IV Funeral Home & Cremation Service, our role in New Kensington extends far beyond providing compassionate care during times of loss. We believe in actively supporting the families, neighborhood organizations, and first responders who make our local community strong, safe, and united.
To show our gratitude and bring local families together, we recently hosted a community Touch-a-Truck event right in our lot. It was a incredible day filled with hands-on learning, family fun, and meaningful connections between neighbors and our local heroes.
Honoring Our Local First Responders
We were honored to welcome first responders from across our area who took time to meet with families, demonstrate their equipment, and give kids a firsthand look at the vehicles that protect us every day:
- New Kensington Police Department & K-9 Unit: Officers brought out their police cruisers and shared insights into how the New Kensington Police Department and their K-9 team keep our neighborhoods safe.
- New Kensington Bureau of Fire: Firefighters from Engine Company 5 brought out the rig, allowing kids to climb inside, explore the cab, and learn about fire safety from the New Kensington Bureau of Fire.
- Local EMS Personnel: Emergency medical technicians gave tours of active ambulances, helping children understand the important role emergency medical services play during health emergencies.
